Busan KCC Egis Qualify For 2026-27 Season

KCC returns to EASL for 2nd time in 3 seasons

The Busan KCC Egis have qualified for the 2026-27 EASL season, marking their second appearance in three seasons after debuting in 2024-25. They secured qualification by advancing to the KBL Finals, defeating the Anyang JKJ Red Boosters in the semifinals. In the Finals, they will face the Goyang Sono Skygunners, who also booked their place earlier this week.

KCC’s 2025-26 regular season was inconsistent. Entering the year with high expectations behind star backcourt duo Heo Ung and Heo Hoon, they hovered around .500 through the opening months. A six-game win streak in December lifted them to 16-9 by Christmas, but a 2-6 stretch in January saw momentum stall. They spent the remainder of the season fighting for position before ultimately securing the No. 6 seed.

The playoffs have told a different story. KCC swept No. 3 seed Wonju DB Promy in the opening round, then defeated JKJ 3-1 in the semifinals, dropping just one game to return to the Finals for the second time in three seasons.

Their last Finals appearance came in 2023-24, when they captured the franchise’s sixth KBL title. That run also qualified them for the 2024-25 EASL season, where they finished 1-5 in Group B. One of the standout moments from that campaign came in a comeback win over the Philippines’ Meralco Bolts on Dec. 19, 2024. Trailing 68-55 with just over three minutes remaining, KCC surged back to take a 69-68 lead with 12 seconds left. Heo Ung led the effort with 31 points, including seven three-pointers, four of which came in the fourth quarter.

Individually, KCC continues to feature high-level production. Heo Ung claimed the KBL three-point title, while Heo Hoon led the league in assists. Import Shawn Long has averaged 19.5 points and 12.5 rebounds during the regular season, ranking fourth and second in the league, respectively.

With the KBL Finals now set between KCC and Sono, EASL has confirmed two representatives from Korea for the 2026-27 season. The Finals series begins on May 5 and will be played in a best-of-seven format.
